The Global Engagement Institute (GEI) is a social enterprise that provides international students and professionals with high-impact education and engagement programs in developing countries in Africa and Asia. Participants of these short-term trips of 1 to 4 weeks have the opportunity to upgrade their own knowledge, skills and intercultural competence while making significant contributions to the development of capacity of local counterparts, institutions and systems. Key program areas include health, education, gender, entrepreneurship and leadership.
We are in the process of opening our first Asian office in Ho Chi Minh City and are looking for an Operations Manager. Female candidates, in particular, are encouraged to apply.
About the position
Under the direction of the Country Manager and the Berlin-based GEI Executive Director, our Operations Manager has two main areas of responsibility: Program Development and Program Operations.
Primary tasks and duties for Program Development will include:
 Development and evaluation of high-impact education and engagement programs in Vietnam and neighboring countries
 Research and documentation of program-related topics
 Development and management of program-related partnerships with government institutions, civil society organizations, universities and other local partners
 Contribution of destination-related information to international marketing activities
Primary tasks and duties for Program Operations will include:
 Development and management of logistics-related partnerships with supplier companies for accommodation, meals, transport, activities and events
 Program preparations (logistics and content) for incoming delegations
 Program management and guiding for incoming delegations
 Program evaluations (logistics and content) for incoming delegations

Required skills & competencies
Education & experience:
 University degree (preferably masters or similar)
 Education background in areas relating to public health, international development, international affairs, women’s studies or communications/journalism
 Proven hands-on work experience in the fields described above (at least 2 years)
 Extensive travel experience and knowledge of most parts of Vietnam, especially HCMC, Hanoi and Hue (travel experience also in neighboring countries is a plus)
 Not mandatory but a plus: Previous work experience in tourism or event management
 Not mandatory but a plus: Proven experience in interacting with people from different countries and cultural backgrounds
Skills:
 Excellent English and Vietnamese language skills, both written and oral
 Excellent communication and writing skills
 Excellent general computer and internet skills
Character & personality:
 Self-starter who takes initiative and thinks outside the box
 Passionate about international development
 Outgoing, a natural communicator and a good networker
 Highly reliable and trustworthy
